Daniel De Gruchy is a 27 year old actor, writer and content creator from Wales via way of Jersey, one of the British Channel Islands where he was born.

Graduating in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts in Public Services (who knew that was a degree option?), he spent a couple years working a variety of jobs. From working on a rehabilitation programme for perpetrators of domestic abuse, to local government admin and working on building sites with his Dad, to even serving beers to the lead singers of Wheatus and Jesus & The Mary Chain. He’s done a bit of everything.

However if there is one thing about Dan beyond his various careers, it’s that he is a creative at heart and loves the idea of expanding his life by doing more with that side of who he is.

It’s just that it took him a while to notice.

Since 2019 he’s been attending acting classes after a trip to Japan that made him realise how important it was to break ‘routine’. Then despite a rough 2020 (a year that was hard for everyone) he was in two short films, wrote his first article for Buzz Magazine, and finally he began to write for this blog.

Then he dropped off for a bit in 2021/22 and came back to it in September 2022. Hey, he isn’t perfect! And he didn’t yet have a mission statement.

That mission is to say ‘Yes’ to more and to stop writing about how much he wants it. Just go for it!

‘Abide’ by what the world gives you.

That is really the story so far, one where I’m giving it my best and wanting to add more to my life. I don’t really know where I’ll be heading next but I don’t mind not knowing either. However here then you’ll find my adventures in learning to act and landing auditions, a few personal ideas or reviews, some real stories of what I’ve attempted next, and also what I’ve been creating on social media (although mainly on TikTok).

I always have plans and lists of things I really want to do, but instead of just letting them stay on the pages I’m hopeful in making honest efforts to make them reality. I also hope to share those experiences with the people I meet and hear some of their stories.

It won’t be written in the third person as the start of this was (I only did so because everyone else seemed to be!), but he, or rather I, invite you to read on, stay as long as you like and let me know what you think.
